Woke up at 7am today and we cabbed down to Xi Hu (West Lake). Lucky for us, we managed to squeeze 5 into a cab (:
Reached West Lake and it was freaking crowded cuz of the Golden Week. I don’t know why we still decided to travel during this week despite knowing the situation and swore not to travel. But oh well, we just had to squeeze with the crowd!
We were starving so we headed to the nearest KFC for breakfast/lunch first.
We walked a hell lot and took many photos! We also climbed trees, made a scene in the middle of the road because we were trying to book tickets back to Shanghai.
I was like carrying YH’s camera bag all along, giving him which lens he needed to take whichever photo. The bag was so heavy cuz he had like 4 lenses inside and I don’t know what other nonsense. I already learnt which lens is for what because he’ll tell me what he wants to take certain shots.
I think we walked for more than 3km and then we decided to take a boat tour. At some part of the lake, the water was as clear as mineral water because no big boats could enter.
After the boat tour, we walked all the way to Lei Feng Ta and paid RMB40 to enter. Climbed up to see the view and yes it was packed like shit so we had to squeeze our way through. For example, we were queuing up for the lift and this stupid lady kept shoving her way through us. We had like 5 people and we refused to budge and we were so happy that she entered the lift after all of us entered. I know, CHEAP THRILL.
We still didn’t have our tickets back to Shanghai at that point of time. From last night, we were trying to call train/bus companies to book tickets but failed. In the end, we reserved tickets at some coach station and had to go down to collect them by evening time.
After Lei Feng Ta, we tried hailing a cab outside West Lake but failed. We then saw a public bus and decided to hop on despite not knowing where it goes to!
We took out our map and followed the buses trail so we’d alight if the bus goes in the opposite direction we wanted it to go. Good thing for us is that it went pretty far before we had to alight and take a cab down to the Coach Station.
My god, I think the whole of Hang Zhou was there! It was freaking crowded everywhere. Didn’t know where to go and tried asking for directions. People directed us here and there until we got damn pissed. YH even told the police off because he gave us vague answers.
Imagine walking around aimlessly squashed between people and the weather wasn’t favorable either, not a very nice scene to be in.
Finally we reached the counter to get our coach ticket. We were already so shagged, tired and hungry so we tried searching for food but it was so crowded!
Wanted to cab down to the city area to find food but we couldn’t take it and settled our dinner at some restaurant which sells cheap food.
After dinner we wanted to go to Yan An Road (city area) but didn’t know how to tell the cab driver which part cuz we split cabs. In the end we decided to meet up at Carrefour because it was so prominent.
I was searching for pick n mix at Carrefour but they didn’t sell it! The one I bought nearby YH’s place was so fresh and nice! I couldn’t find the exact same one so I settled for something similar.
YH & JY’s friend was in Hang Zhou as well so they asked her to meet them at where we were.
After Carrefour, we settled down at BREAD TALK :D
Bought bread for tomorrow’s breakfast and chilled there for quite some time before walking down the streets.
I hate the toilets in Hang Zhou. So dirty and smelly. Ugh.
We also hollered at cab stealers when trying to hail a cab back to our hotel. I think we’re fully adapted to the culture here already- we stand in the middle of the road trying to flag for cabs, hollering at people, stealing cabs from people etc etc.
We are so not the type to bully when in China. Haha.
