Last night was super duper stuffy (like the temperature when we were on the plane to Shanghai) and today morning we realized what happened.

YJ, Angela and I slept earlier than YH and JY and by 12am it was damn stuffy. They called housekeeping to complain but it didn’t work so the both of them went down to the lobby to complain to any manager they could get hold of.

The manager claimed that by 12am the hotel switches off the air-con and it was their policy. He even took out a newspaper article about hotel’s conserving electricity. His solution to us was to first lend us a fan (but he got shot by YH saying that the fan will only circulate hot air so it was useless) and then he suggested to open the windows (he got shot again by YH cuz the windows could only open a small gap and the weather outside was hot and there was no wind).

YH even chased away 2 guests that was about to check-in and demanded that the manager switch on the air-con. They were reluctant at first but in the end they gave in and the air-con was being turned on after awhile when they got back to our hotel room.

So today I woke up at like 6am and we cabbed down to Long Jing Tea Plantation. Acted like bloody tourists snapping photos everywhere we went because YH brought along his tripod and remote.

We then climbed this place while taking photos on the way up. The place is infested with mosquitoes and we got bitten quite a fair bit.

The weather was bad though- hot and humid and we were climbing in slippers!

Some scenes were quite nice but when we were making our way down, we passed by some area which was infested with hungry mosquitoes! Never in my life have I seen so many mosquitoes attack me at one time! Just keep any part of your body still at one point of time and you’ll see 3-4 mosquitoes landing there sucking your blood.

They were quite slow though, it was relatively easy to kill them. But in the end, we still got bitten! We were like running down and away from the mosquitoes but it didn’t really work.

We also saw a matchmaker at that area because one whole area was like a Chinese wedding setting. We took paparazzi shots of the matchmaker and the photos are CLASSIC!

After the tea plantation, we cabbed down to Xi Xi Wet Land because it had a AAAA rating in the tour book.

Admission was RMB80 but we told them we were students so it was half price. Went in and the staff there advised us to take a boat tour because if we walk we wouldn’t see much.

So each of us paid RMB60 for the stupid boat ride ticket. It works like a shuttle bus system that brings you around different areas of the wet land. We boarded it and headed to the first stop.

Seriously, there was nothing nice to see during the boat ride. We only saw murky water, trees, grass and boring dull plants.

We then boarded another boat after our first stop. We wanted to go to their Botanical Gardens to take a look so I asked the tour guide on the boat to tell us which stop to stop and she replied sarcastically with a “I’ll definitely tell you where to alight”.

Why sarcastic? I think it was because we made hell a lot of noise and she didn’t like us.

Anws, that’s not the point.

So while we were on the boat (sleeping/napping because it was so boring with nothing to see), suddenly it knocked onto another boat. It was quite a serious knock that sent our boat heading for the bushes. Our window was open so all the yucky stuff came in and we screamed and stood on the chair when we saw 3 praying mantises inside.

Then we heard the driver SOS so we knew something was wrong. When the boat was about to dock, it stopped by hitting against the thing and the boat jerked like nobody’s business because the break spoilt.

The driver even said that “it was only a joke”. Rubbish.

We then continued sleeping while waiting for the tour guide to tell us where to alight. Then suddenly, when the boat docked at some place she asked everyone to alight including us saying that it was the last stop of the boat route already.

Like, huh? We questioned her and she said that she forgot because there were too many people and the accident happened. Excuses I tell you. She wasn’t even the least apologetic and we were so pissed we wanted to complain.

She so didn’t wanna get involved and pushed the matter to the CRM dept. She didn’t even bring us there. We had to find our way down ourselves.

The service people suck I tell you. They don’t wanna be responsible for anything. We were transferred from people to people when trying to complain and finally this lady spoke to us.

She was so rude. She didn’t let us finish our sentences, let us wait for a freaking long time, laughed at the whole incident as if it was some kind of joke and refused to come up with a solution to satisfy us. All we wanted was our money back for the boat ride.

In the end we didn’t bother to give them face anymore. We created quite a big scene when they refused to refund us our money and demanded to see their manager. They refused and told us that refunding money was the finance dept’s job.

I was so pissed I walked all the way to another place where the HR dept was and demanded to speak to someone with authority. After finding some other lady, we reasoned out everything and in the end they fully refunded us our boat ride tickets.

If you’d ever come to Hang Zhou, never ever step into Xi Xi Wet Land!

After the whole commotion, we tried to cab down to the city to eat dinner. Cabs were so hard to get and when we finally got one, the driver refused to take 5 people.

A guy offered us his van (black car = illegal) but we refused. We told his we’d take it if he charged RMB30 but he wanted RMB35. We tried hailing for another cab but failed.

In the end we agreed on RMB35 for him to take us to the city for dinner. We looked like some losers but who cares! It’s cheaper than taking 2 cabs!

Ate Mac’s for dinner and we had nowhere to go again. So where did we go? CARREFOUR!

Bought more junk food and wanted to cab back to the hotel. There were cab stealers everywhere so we had to do the same in order to get a cab. You should have seen how we snatched the cab from other people! I can’t imagine us doing this kinda thing man.

Before going up the hotel room, we went to buy yummy mutton sticks! It costs only RMB1 per stick.

The hotel learnt their lesson, they didn’t dare switch off the air-con tonight.
